Horseback riding camps

for children

2011-2012 WINTER CAMPS

Here's a great way to pry kids away from the TV, computer and video games — and get them some exercise too — during school breaks.

Fox Hill's Winter Camps on Horseback are all the fun of summer camp, with a full week of riding horses, taking care of a favorite horse or pony, playing games and enjoying crafts projects.

You can book individual days — or book the entire week and save!

SUMMER CAMP

For children who love horses and want to improve their riding skills — or who want to start learning how to ride horseback — summer camp at Fox Hill provides a uniquely fun experience ... and memories they'll cherish always.

Every day is filled with activities supervised by our camp instructors, most of whom learned to ride at Fox Hill themselves. Whether taking riding lessons, learning to groom and care for horses, or playing games with new friends, your child will be getting exercise, becoming more comfortable riding and working around horses ... and most of all, having fun!

Camp activities include:

Riding
All campers ride five days a week, with lessons tailored to each child's individual needs. Beginner riders and those who don't yet jump take lessons every day. Advanced riders who normally take jumping classes take two lessons a week and hack (ride on their own, with supervision) the other days.

Clinics
Different equine professionals may conduct clinics during camp. These can include conformation clinics, blacksmith demonstrations, lessons with show braiders, and other interesting subjects children don't learn about in their lessons.

Fun and games
Daily activities may include arts and crafts, horse-related games, horseless horse shows, course design, horse costume contests, barn safety demonstrations, riding to music, horsemanship quizzes, grooming contests, BBQs and many other activities.

Horse shows
Fox Hill often hosts horse shows during the summer. Campers will be able to watch the shows, perhaps help with the horses, and those at an appropriate level may even compete. Fees to ride in a horse show are in addition to the camp cost.
