Instruction in hunter seat equitation is available to adults and children 7 years and older on their own mounts or one of Fox Hill’s school horses.

First-time riders at Fox Hill begin with half-hour private lessons.

Those who are just starting to ride will continue with half-hour private lessons until they are comfortable at the walk, trot and canter. They may then join one of our small classes.

After their initial evaluation ride at Fox Hill, riders who already have walk, trot and canter skills may join one of the many hour or hour-and-a-half group lessons throughout the week and on weekends. Or they may choose private or semi-private lessons, depending on availability.

Most riders take at least one lesson a week at a regularly scheduled day and time.

Fox Hill's instruction schedule is designed to accommodate school children and working adults; many after-school, evening and weekend times are available. All lessons are by advance appointment with the barn secretary.

Intercollegiate Program

Fox Hill provides the Pace Intercollegiate Riding Program. Riders at all levels, from beginner to advanced, are trained by our instructors at Fox Hill. The program is designed to build strong, accomplished riders who can compete successfully at their appropriate levels on the college show circuit. Lessons on our school horses are held throughout the academic year.
